High Cotton is the long-time residence of Mr Floyd McLamb. Situated just outside Poplarville, Mississippi, and a little more than an hour from New Orleans, the 130-acre estate includes a guest residence, 2 small lakes, 3 ponds and a petting zoo. High Cotton offers a secluded place for writers to find inspiration and to mingle with other writers.
Floyd McLamb grew up on a farm in North Carolina with five siblings. He entered the army at sixteen then taught school before opening a restaurant in New Orleans. This was followed by a successful stint as owner of the Lion's Inn Bed & Breakfast and an antiques store. As a writer of short stories, Mr McLamb was twice awarded honorable mention by the William Faulkner Society. It has been his dream to offer up-and-coming writers an opportunity to explore their talent in a safe and inspirational environment. https://www.frenchquarterjournal.com/archives/going-to-pots-in-new-orleans
